Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • Mapillai Samba Rice – 1 cup
  • Grated Coconut – ¼ cup
  • Green Chillies – 2
  • Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves – 6
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – 1 tbsp

Instructions for Mapillai Samba Kozhukattai:

Preparation:

  • Soak and coarsely grind rice.
  • Heat oil and prepare a tempering with mustard, chillies and curry leaves.
  • Add coconut and rice paste. Cook till it forms a dough.

Cooking Process:

  • Cool slightly and shape into small dumplings.
  • Steam for 10–12 minutes.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve with coconut chutney or herbal thuvaiyal.
  • Ideal as an evening tiffin snack.
