Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • Mapillai Samba Rice – 1 cup
  • Toor Dal – ¼ cup
  • Chana Dal – ¼ cup

Other Ingredients:

  • Onion – 1 (chopped)
  • Red Chillies – 3
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Curry Leaves – 5
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – for cooking

Instructions for Mapillai Samba Adai:

Preparation:

  • Soak rice and dals together for 5–6 hours.
  • Grind with red chillies and ginger to a coarse batter. Mix in chopped onions and curry leaves.

Cooking Process:

  • Heat a tawa, pour batter and spread thick like pancakes.
  • Drizzle oil and cook both sides until golden brown.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve hot with coconut chutney or jaggery.
  • Can also pair with tomato thokku or avial.

Pro Tips:

  • Rest the batter for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Add grated carrots or spinach for variation.
