Ingredients
Main Ingredients:
- Mapillai Samba Rice – 1 cup
- Toor Dal – ¼ cup
- Chana Dal – ¼ cup
Other Ingredients:
- Onion – 1 (chopped)
- Red Chillies – 3
- Ginger – 1 inch
- Curry Leaves – 5
- Salt – to taste
- Oil – for cooking
Instructions for Mapillai Samba Adai:
Preparation:
- Soak rice and dals together for 5–6 hours.
- Grind with red chillies and ginger to a coarse batter. Mix in chopped onions and curry leaves.
Cooking Process:
- Heat a tawa, pour batter and spread thick like pancakes.
- Drizzle oil and cook both sides until golden brown.
Serving Suggestions:
- Serve hot with coconut chutney or jaggery.
- Can also pair with tomato thokku or avial.

- Rest the batter for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Add grated carrots or spinach for variation.
